"Man is imperfect, and his mistakes
allow us to recognize perfection. This recognition is what
allows us to look beautiful"
Martin Schoeller
Angelina Jolie
From his work I have gotten a new work that I find to be my latest masterpiece -- Blemish. It is a self-portrait, in the style of my interpretation of Schoeller's work.
The majority of attraction is based upon looks. When we see celebrities, when we see models, and the people on the street that we find to be beautiful -- we believe them to be flawless. This is not true. It can be found that even in the most beautiful of people, that when we look up close, and into the light, they are revealed to have flaws that we would never have imagined them true to be. Now, despite the fact that I may not even be one of those "beautiful people", that there it still captures the purpose. We never really get to look at people straight in the face long enough, or allowed the luxury to, because we fear to find something unexpected beneath a barrier of imagined perfection.
